SA UK Seasons at Mamelodi.

In July artist Emmanuel Molikoe visited our project in Brixton to produce some hand painted pictures on Somerleyton Road. As part of the SA UK seasons run by the British council we paid a visit to him at the Viva Foundation in Mamelodi. Our task for today was to create a design for one of the informal homes at Mamelodi.

Mamelodi 2015

Today I visited Emmanuel at his home in mamelodi informal settlement outside Pretoria to look at some ideas for some painting next week. Emmanuel visited the project on Somerleyton Road in Brixton in July as part of the British councils SA UK seasons initiative linking south African and British artists. During that time he created some paintings based on his style which were later shown on the street and also visited a few galleries in London to see the type of art being exhibited.
We will be designing a couple of shacks next week and hope you enjoy the results.
The viva foundation have an artists program and actively invite artists to paint their community.
Here are some photos of Emmanuel's latest work and some of the pieces in mamelodi.
